MVR 29 mln disbursed as frontline allowance for employees of two hospital

MVR 29 million has been disbursed as frontline allowance for healthcare workers employed at state-run Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) and Villimale Hospital, the government has said.

Speaking at a press conference held at the President's Office on Thursday, government Spokesperson Mohamed Mabrook Azeez said over MVR 28 million was disbursed to 1719 front liners employed at IGMH, and another MVR 1 million was disbursed to 71 front liners at Villimale' Hospital.

The Health Emergency Operation Centre's approval is pending for 352 IGMH employees and 39 Villimale' Hospital employees while approval for 30 front liners is pending at IGMH, he added. These individuals will also receive their frontline allowances very soon, said Mabrook.
