Parliament approves for Maldives to join IUCN

The Parliament has approved for the Maldives to join International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's request for parliamentary approval on joining the convention was reviewed by the parliament's Foreign Relations Committee. After the committee approved to join the convention, the matter was put up for vote on the parliament floor on Monday. It was approved with the unanimous vote of 28 parliamentarians who took part in the vote.

The International Union for Conservation of Nature is an international organization working in the field of nature conservation and sustainable use of natural resources.  The organization has over 91 member countries, and over 1,400 governmental and non-governmental organizations.
