BML continues partnership with Cancer Society to raise awareness

Bank of Maldives (BML) Thursday announced its support for this year’s ‘Pink Ribbon Run-Walk’ organised by the Cancer Society of Maldives (CSM) to raise awareness on breast cancer and to promote active lifestyles in Maldives.

The Bank also made a donation of MVR 150,000 to CSM in support of initiatives to increase cancer awareness and provide psychosocial support to cancer patients and their families. Similar to last year, this year’s event is being held virtually through an online platform due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Participants from across the country can register through the website in addition to making donations to CSM.

BML CEO and Managing Director Tim Sawyer said the bank is pleased to extend its support to the Cancer Society of Maldives for the 6th year. The virtual event is a great way of engaging people, raising awareness and providing support to those impacted, said Sawyer.

As part of the partnership, CSM conducted free cancer screenings for the bank’s staff. Information sessions will also be held for staff on the importance of regular examinations to ensure early detection. Bank of Maldives has been supporting CSM and the Pink Ribbon Run-walk since 2016.
