Hinnavaru Hospital construction to be contracted next month

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has said the construction and development of the 30-bed state-of-the-art hospital planned for L. Hinnavaru island would be contracted to a party in March. The President made the statement in a meeting with Hinnavaru residents on Saturday night.

The President said the hospital project is in the tender stages and said it would end on February 28. He said the project, for which the budget has already been allocated, will be contracted in March.

President Solih said he had two years to complete the construction of the hospital and said it was more than enough time to complete a 30-bed hospital. Therefore, he said he was in talks with the Planning Minister to expedite the completion of the hospital.

The President also touched on other development projects in Hinnavaru. In this regard, he spoke about expanding the existing harbor and building a new one. Other projects planned for the island include road development, building a university campus, and 100 housing units, in addition to improving the electricity network.

Highlighting that funds had been earmarked in the budget to develop a new building for the Island Council, President Solih assured that arrangements would be made to improve banking services. He went on to emphasize the administration’s commitment to listen to the people and prioritize their needs.
