Alamgir pleads guilty to 40 additional charges

Bangladeshi citizen convicted for having homosexual relations with several local men, MD Alamgir, has pleaded guilty to 40 more charges.

Alamgir filmed himself having homosexual relations with several local men, including politicians, prominent businessmen, and law enforcement officials. Alamgiri was arrested and charged with three counts of homosexual relations, to which he pleaded guilty. The Criminal Court sentenced him to seven months and six days in jail on August 31.

The prosecution on September 18 filed 40 additional charges against Alamgir. He was charged with 40 counts of producing pornographic content. Alamgir pleaded guilty to the charges at a closed-door hearing held at the Criminal Court on Saturday.

Due to the defendant's admission of guilt, the presiding judge said the case would be an expedited trial. Therefore, the next hearing would be a sentencing hearing. However, a date for the hearing has not yet been announced.

Parliament Speaker Mohamed Nasheed's brother, Nazim Abdul Sattar, former Nolhivaram MP Mohamed Nasheed, and police officer Abdul Rahman Rafeeu were with having homosexual relations with Alamgir. While Nazim is serving a three-month and 26-day house arrest sentence for the offense, Rafeeu has been sentenced to one year, two months, and 12 days in jail.
