Three people have been arrested on charges of drug possession and trafficking.
Police said the arrests were made in an operation executed on May 15 based on a tip-off received by the police. The suspects, identified as a 28-year-old man, a 32-year-old man, and a 31-year-old woman, were taken into custody under a court order.
When first produced before the Criminal Court for a decision on their remand, all three suspects were remanded in custody for ten days. Upon the expiry of the initial remand period, the 31-year-old woman's remand was extended by ten days, while the 28-year-old man's remand was extended by 30 days. Meanwhile, the 32-year-old is under the custody of the Maldives Correctional Services.
Specific details regarding the arrest location and the quantity of drugs seized have not been disclosed by the police. The case is currently under active investigation.
