Maldives has been awarded as the Best Beach Destination at the Italia Travel Awards 2016.
Maldives Marketing and PR Corporation (MMPRC) said the award was conferred at the Italia Travel Awards 2016, held on the 26th of this month in Rome, Italy. The award was received by Giorgia Marazzi, The Honorary Consular for Maldives.
MMPRC said the Maldives won the award by beating Seychelles and Polynesia in the category.
Italia Travel Award is considered as the Oscar of the Travel Award in Italy. The main objective of the award is to encourage and boost quality of the Travel and Tourism products of the country. There were different categories of the award up for grasp. A total of 15 categories and 43 awards were presented to the respected winners.
The Italian Market is one of the most important source markets for the Maldivian tourism Industry. During the first quarter of 2016 a total of 27,167 Italians tourist spend their holidays in the Maldives.
