PG to investigate Adeeb DNA report

Prosecutor General's Office has begun to investigate the DNA report which showed that DNA of former Vice President Ahmed Adeeb was found in the residence of former Defense Minister Colonel (Rtd) Mohamed Nazim.

Senior Public Prosecutor Ahmed Hisham Wajeeh said to Avas that the DNA report had been sent to Supreme Court, after it was sent to the PG office from Police. He said the report was sent to Supreme Court on Thursday.

Hisham did not specify on how the prosecution will proceed with the case, given the discovery of Adeeb's DNA, but said that the state was reviewing the report.

Once the pistol was discovered in Nazim's residence, a special audit of the armory was carried out. An anonymous witness had attested that he had received information of the missing weapons. He said that when he had attempted to investigate the case, he was threatened on two occasions by Adeeb.

Nazim's defense alleged that there was a match in the method used to erase serial numbers from the weapons cache in Himbalhidhoo and the pistol found in Nazim's home.

Former Home Minister Umar Naseer had said that Adeeb, during his tenure as the Tourism Minister had threatened both him and former Defense Minister Mohamed Nazim of consequences if they had proceeded with their agenda.
