ACC questions MP Mohamed Ismail

Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has questioned Huvarafushi Constituency MP Mohamed Ismail over the statements he made in the Parliament floor regarding the funds siphoned from MMPRC. The MP had also confirmed that he had been questioned.

ACC previously said the Commission had begun investigation into the MPs statements as a separate case, as the funds in question were state funds. The Commission said due to this the Commission will also have to find out the MPs who had allegedly taken the bribe.

Mohamed Ismail said ACC had questioned him, including whether he knew the former Vice President Ahmed Adeeb. He added that he had also questioned the Commission but did not divulge details.

In a Parliament session MP Mohamed Ismail said that he had taken the funds siphoned by the former Vice President and distributed it among the MPs, which had been accepted.
