Former Home Minister Umar Naseer has denied the allegations made in the Al Jazeera investigative report "Stealing Paradise" regarding the investigation into missing journalist. The documentary alleged that President Abdullah Yameen had instructed Umar to not give much importance to the investigation.
The report shows a message reportedly from the President to the then Home Minister not to give much importance to the investigation. To which Umar had responded with "OK noted Sir".
In a tweet posted today, Umar said that he "did not receive any text message from RY [President Yameen] on Rilwan's case." He added that he was "100% sure that aljazeera will NOT have such a text."
In a subsequent tweet in he said both Nasheed and Yameen's Government had engaged in corruption at the same levels. He said the difference between the two governments was similar to the "difference between cholera and shygella."
