RaajjeTV has stated the station's report on MIRA Commissioner General of Taxation Yazeed Mohamed was false. Yazeed had filed a defamation suit against the channel following the broadcast.
As the suit was filed before the ratification of the Defamation Act, the suit was filed against the station not under the act. Hearings of the case was held in Civil Court.
In the hearings the channel had said report on RaajjeTV, which accused Yazeed of tax evasion and having a non-registered business, were untrue. The channel had admitted this after Yazeed had presented evidence contrary to the claim.
RaajjeTV had issued a statement today, stating the sources for the report had provided false information to the channel.
The report also said that Yazeed had rented out his flat from the Rehendhi flats to expatriates and that he was benefiting from it as well. In today's statement, RaajjeTV had said they had been able to verify that Yazeed had not sublet his flat.
It has been reported that Yazeed had contacted RaajjeTV and appealed not to broadcast the report. The request was denied by the channel.
