Oman, Maldives discuss developing bilateral ties

President Abdullah Yameen and the Chairman of the Majlis A’ Shura of the Sultanate of Oman, His Excellency Sheikh Khalid bin Hilal Al Maawali has held discussions on areas of further cooperation between the two countries, and expressed hope in the continued cooperation between the People’s Majlis of Maldives and the Majlis A’ Shura of Oman.

The discussions were carried out in the courtesy call paid to the President.

During the call, the President conveyed greetings and good wishes from the Government and people of Maldives to the Government and the people of Oman, and in particular to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said. The President also highlighted on the importance of the fraternal relations between the two countries, based on mutual understanding, promotion of Islamic values and the protection of the Islamic Identity.

The Chairman conveyed appreciation for the warm welcome in the Maldives and expressed his confidence that the relations between the Maldives and Oman would grow from strength to strength in the future.

The President was accompanied at the call by the Speaker of the People’s Majlis, Abdullah Maseeh, Deputy Speaker of the People’s Majlis, Moosa Manik, Minister of State for Foreign Relations at the President’s Office, Mohamed Naseer, the Secretary General of the People’s Majlis, Ahmed Mohamed and the Counsel General of the Secretariat of the People’s Majlis, Fathimath Filza.
