SATA Awards: Judging begins on Maldivian categories

  • Professional judging by Sri Lanka, India also participating
  • Colorful award ceremony will be held in Sri Lanka
  • SATA received over 200 nominations

The judging has begun on Maldivian nominees for the South Asian Travel Award (SATA), which will be held in the capital of Sri Lanka, Colombo in the next month.

"Highrise", the organizers of this award show, say that the Maldivian nominations had started yesterday and that it will continue on to the 22nd of this month at Champa Central Hotel. Parts of this award will continue in Sri Lanka as well as India.

How winners will be selected

  • Mount Lavinia, Sri Lanka: October 22nd to 25th
  • Windsor Rajadhani, India: October 25th to 27th

Highrise informs the Judging team will consist of leading experts in tourism from India and Sri Lanka. The SATA Awards will be held in Mount Lavinia Hotel of Sri Lanka on the 15th and 16th of next month.

Highrise says that some of the famous brands nominated for the SATA Awards include, Hideaway, Jumeirah, Park Hyatt, Coco Collection, Villa Group, Sun Siyam, Adaaran, Constant, Atiken Spence, Leela Group, Kingberry, Taj Samundra as well as the Casa Collection.

There have been 273 nominations for the SATA Awards. Awards will be given in 39 categories of 10 sections. Maldivian resorts are competing in 9 categories of the "Visitors Choice" section. There are 140 nominations in the 30 categories of the "Self Nomination" section.

This award show has been accepted by big organizations in the region, such as the Colombo Chamber of Commerce (CCC), Federation of Chamber of Commerce in Lanka as well as Confederation of Credit Tour Operators (Ceto). India's Association of Tourism Trade Organisation (ATTOI) and Kerela Hotel General Managers Club (KHGMC) is also among these organizations. The Maldivian organizations who have accepted this award includes the Association of Travel Agents (ATA) and Live Abroad Maldives (LAM).
