First Lady aids children in fight against cancer

First Lady of the Maldives, Fathimath Ibrahim has met with and provided aid to children battling against cancer. At the ceremony held at 'Muliyaage' Saturday, she met with and provided aid to many children who were under 18 years.

Speaking at the ceremony, the First Lady said that although cancer is a disease which makes one endure so much pain that it makes them weary of life, people must keep on hoping and let go of the weariness. She also said that this disease can now be combated with the proper treatment, and that helping others get this treatment provides her with happiness.

"I feel happy to be part of a community where people continue to help each other. Cancer is something that needs treatment. So we have to renew hope everyday. I always have a place in my heart for those of you who are suffering," the First Lady said.

She met with the families of different cancer patients at this event along with the Managing Director of Aasandha, and CEO of National Social Protection Agency.
