Police are looking into a death threat against main opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) lawmaker Imthiyaz Fahmy.
Police said the complaint was filed by the North-Maafannu MP on Saturday evening. Fahmy who is also the party's spokesperson said he had received the threat on Viber. Fahmy said the perpetrator had threatened to stab the lawmakers to death.
The military is entrusted with the security of the parliament and lawmakers. But individual lawmakers, outside of the parliament are provided a security detail upon request.
