The Maldives Customs Service has arrested two individuals who attempted to smuggle 1.5 kg of drugs into the country.
Customs said that a 29 year old local man who arrived from India on February 25 exhibiting suspicious behaviour resulted in a search. Upon inspection 506 grams of hash oil and 6 bullets of what was later confirmed to be heroin were found in the man's possession.
Due to an intelligence report, customs was also able to nab another Maldivian man, aged 32 who arrived back home from Dubai with 783 grams of heroin in his possession.
Customs said the men arrested in both cases have been handed over to the police, who are currently investigating the matter further.
