Flu clinic treats over 1000 people

Over 1000 people have been treated at the flu clinic set up in the state run Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) in less than a week.

IGMH spokesperson Ahmed Mausoom said a total of 1,068 people have been treated at the clinic, with 475 out of the total coming in to the clinic on Tuesday.

"The amount of patients is increasing at the flu clinic," Mausoom stated.

The flu clinic has been switched to the nearby Thaajuddeen School after the influx of patients, with the school now providing in-patient services. Patients who need to be admitted are taken directly to the main hospital building.

Flu clinics have also been setup at the privately run ADK Hospital and the hospital at the reclaimed suburb Hulhumale.

Out of the 251 tested so far, 51 have tested positive for the H1N1 virus.
