Maldives soldiers to get non practicing allowance

Government is set to provide non practicing allowance to soldiers, defence minister Adam Shareef Umar announced Saturday.

Speaking during the ceremony held to mark the 125th anniversary of the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF), the minister said efforts are now underway to review the new allowance structure which would see soldiers on sick leave, half pay and family emergency leave receive non practicing allowance.

In addition soldiers on maternity leave, sons' circumcision leave and paid leave would receive non practicing allowance, minister added.

According to the minister the housing project for soldiers would be completed by next April while soldiers would benefit from the upgrade of the military hospital 'Senahiya' in the capital Male.
