State suffers MVR 2mn loss due to abuse of power

Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) on Monday revealed that the state suffered a loss of over MVR 2 million due to abuse of power, during the first three months of the year.

According to statistics published by ACC, five individuals have been sentenced in three separate cases they forwarded to the Prosecutor General’s office.

The commission had only revealed that the five people who were sentenced included three males and two females who worked for the government; no further information regarding the individuals were disclosed.

The court has already ordered four of the five individuals to pay MVR 2,662,430 as compensation for the loss, ACC revealed.
