Over 20 expats injured in warehouse fire
A fire broke-out in a warehouse in the reclaimed suburb Hulhumale late Saturday leaving 22 expatriates injured.
The expats were believed to have been housed in the four-storey warehouse owned by local construction giant Amin Constructions. The fire had reportedly broken out on the top floor which is the accommodation block of the expats.
Firefighters had managed to control the fire as the injured were rushed to the Hulhumale hospital. The expats had reportedly varying degrees of burn injuries.
A hospital official said nine people had been taken to the state-run Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) in the capital Male.
