Parliament to probe social flat scandal

A parliamentary committee has scheduled a sit-down for Wednesday to look into the government's refusal to reveal the names of the people who had been awarded flats under a social housing scheme.

The parliamentary government oversight committee has been scheduled for 10.30am on Wednesday.

Housing ministry has come under intense criticism for its refusal to publicize the names of the recipients with the housing minister Dr Mohamed Muizzu's weak attempt to justify the decision sparking more outrage.

Muizzu during a press conference on Monday said the decision to only publicize the application form numbers of the recipients was taken to "protect their rights."
