Maldives on the look out for adrift Sri Lanka boats

Maldives coastguard on Tuesday asked locals to be on the lookout for 30 Sri Lankan fishing boats reportedly adrift in Maldivian waters following the devastating Cyclonic storm 'Ockhi'.

Coastguard said many foreign vessels are reportedly in distress in Maldivian waters. The Sri Lankan authorities have informed that as many as 30 fishing boats are adrift in Maldivian waters, coastguard confirmed.

The Maldives coastguard has urged local vessels to immediately notify the coastguard if a boat in distress is seen. The coastguard also urged local vessels to be cautious of floating debris.
