President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih traveled to his birth island, Hinnavaru of Lhaviyani atoll on Friday.
The president is traveling to his island for the parliamentary election campaign of his party, Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP).
The President received a warm welcome upon his arrival from the people of the island. This is not the first time the president is visiting his island since he took Office.
President Solih represented Hinnavaru at the parliament for 25 consecutive years before he was elected as the President. MDP's Jeehan Mahmood, backed by President Solih is contesting for the seat in the 19th parliamentary election.
