Siraj summoned by DJA for questioning

Supreme Court has summoned MP-elect for Fonadhoo constituency and attorney at law Moosa Siraj for questioning.

Siraj is to present himself at Department of Judicial Administration at 3.00pm on Thursday afternoon.

Siraj is being summoned over a tweet he posted criticizing the judiciary last Tuesday. In his tweet, he had stated that the courts can be reformed only through dismissing the judges, especially the ‘corrupt justices of the Supreme Court’.

Speaking on the matter on Thursday, Siraj said he will not be intimidated into taking back his comments. Re-affirming his unwavering stance on the matter, he said he will continue his efforts toward reforming the judiciary.

Former Attorney General and president of Commission Investigating Murders and Enforced Disappearances Husnu-Al-Suood was also summoned by the DJA over comments he made on public television that can be held in contempt of court.
