Two additional arrests made over expat's disappearance

Two additional arrests have been made in connection to missing expatriate Luthfar’s disappearance.

Remains of what is suspected to be the missing Bangladesh national's body was discovered underwater, revealed the police earlier on Monday.

While two Bangladesh nationals who worked on the same boat as Luthfar were arrested earlier, two additional expats working as crew on the same boat were arrested by the police. A total of four foreigners are currently under police custody over the case.

Luthfar was reported as missing last Wednesday after the crew on the boat he worked on could not locate him as the boat prepared to depart from Lhaimagu island to capital Male’. At the time, rumors circulating in Lhaimagu island said Luthfar was murdered.

Speaking on their investigation into the case, the police earlier said they searched the area in the sea where they believe Luthfar’s body was dumped. The divers found human remains which the police believe are of Luthfar’s.

The police did not divulge further details on the case, and stated that more information on the case will be shared soon.
