Turism Minister Ali Waheed has carried out discussions with Bollywood star Vivek Oberoi on a collaboration effort to promote Maldives.
Vivek Oberoi, who starred as the lead actor in the movie released last month based on the life of Indian Prime Minster Narendra is currently on holiday in the Maldives at newly opened Heritance Aarah by Adaaran in Raa atoll.
Although the Tourism Ministry confirmed that a meeting took place between Mr. Oberoi and the minister regarding possible collaborations, no details of the meeting were revealed.
Several Indian stars working in the film industry holiday in the Maldives frequently. India is among the top seven countries from which the most number of tourists visit the Maldives. While 48,876 Indian tourists visited Maldives this year, this is an increase of 7.6% compared to the 25,023 Indian tourists who visited the archipelago last year.
