Visa exemption agreement to be signed with Russia

Foreign Ministry has revealed that the government is preparing to sign an agreement with the Russian Federation that would allow Maldivians to travel to Russia without a visa.

Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid on Monday departed to Russia on an official call to meet with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov.

A statement released by the Foreign Ministry read that a visa exemption agreement will be signed between both countries during the visit. Under the agreement, Maldivians traveling to Russia will be issued a 90-day on arrival visa.

The Ministry further stated that ways on which the bilateral relations between both countries can be strengthened will also be discussed during the meeting between the two foreign ministers.
