President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has stated that there is a lot of work to be done by main-ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) to bring about reform.
In a tweet conveying congratulations to MDP members on the occasion of MDP's 14th anniversary, the president acknowledged the sacrifices made by MDP members in the past 14 years to bring about positive changes to the nation.
A special flag hosting ceremony was held at MDP's main headquarters in capital Male' to celebrate the occasion. President Solih, former president and Speaker of the parliament Mohamed Nasheed and other senior MDP members were in attendance.
MDP was officially registered as a political party on 26th June 2005. MDP won two out of the three presidential elections held after the party came into being. MDP recently secured a historical win in April's parliamentary election, with the party winning super majority of the parliament.
