Ex-VP Adeeb advised to return to India in six months

Former Vice President Ahmed Adeeb who is currently undergoing medical treatment in India has been advised by his ophthalmologist to return for a review in six months.

Adeeb is undergoing medical treatment for Glaucoma at Ruby Hall Clinic hospital in Pune, India. Adeeb's ophthalmologist Dr. Shrutika Kankariya revealed to the Indian newspaper 'Times of India' that Adeeb came in for check up three times between 18th June to 24th June. She also informed that he will need to return for a follow up in six months.

Adeeb has many medical complications including kidney issues in addition to Glaucoma. He was diagnosed with Glaucoma while he was serving his 33-year sentence in jail after being convicted for orchestrating the explosion aboard the presidential speedboat and the MMPRC corruption case in 2017.

Adeeb and his wife traveled to India on the 14th of June 2019. Although they were expected to return on 26th of June 2019, the treatment period has been extended until July 6th under doctors advice and with the approval of Maldives Correctional Service.

Adeeb is being accompanied by three Correctional Service officers and a police officer during the trip.
