Minister Shifaz neither arrested nor summoned: Police

Maldives Police Service has denied reports that Minister at President's Office and Vice President of main-ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) was arrested on Monday night.

Several reports of the minister being arrested with alcohol made its rounds on social media on Monday. However, the police have confirmed that no such incident had occurred, and that the minister has not been arrested or summoned by the police in connection with any crime.

"Minister Shifaz has not been summoned or arrested by the police in connection to any crimes," MPS tweeted.

Minister Shifaz has also stated that the news of his arrest is false. He has been campaigning for another year as the Vice President of MDP.
