A summons has been issued to Commissioner of Prisons Abdulla Munaz

A summons has been issued to Commissioner of Prisons Abdulla Munaz to present himself to the Criminal Court over a tweet posted by him.

The court said Munaz was being summoned over a tweet posted by the commissioner that portrayed the Criminal Court in a negative light, and to investigate the matter further.

Munaz is to present himself at court at 1300 hrs on Thursday. No comments have been made by the CP on the matter.

Munaz, who previously sat on the presidential commission investigating murders and enforced disappearances, served in Maldives National Defense Force for a long period. He has filled other official positions of the government as well.
