The laboratory service is officially initiated in R.Innamaadhoo Health Centre.
The service was inaugurated by Abdulla Ameen, Minister of Health in a ceremony held in Innamaadhoo on Friday night.
The laboratory is constructed by the island council in collaboration with some companies. The facilities needed to commence the laboratory services was established on the 18th of January 2020.
While the population of Innamaadhoo is more than 800, the community of the island had been getting the laboratory services from Ungoofaaru Regional Hospital of the atoll. If is it by a speedboat, a 20-minute journey. If by atoll ferry, it is 1-hour travel.
The Ministry of Health stated that the service of the laboratory will make life easier for the people of the island. Moreover, there are 4 thalassaemic patients on the island -it will be easier for them also to get treatment.
In Raa Atoll there are 8 Health Centres that provide laboratory services.
