The Elections Commission of Maldives (EC) has opened invitation for interested parties to observe and monitor the upcoming local council election, and the Women's Development Committee election slated for April 4.
An announcement made by the commission on Wednesday said the opening is from 5th February till 2nd March.
Elections Commission said the criteria for observers include being a local of over 18 years of age, and should not have a criminal record.
Additionally, independent applicants and those representing civil organizations should not be registered to any political party, while only those employed at a radio or TV station registered by the Broadcasting Commission, or at registered news agencies can apply as monitors.
