COVID-19: Three Maldivians quarantined in Russia test negative

Three Maldivian students who were quarantined in Russia last Thursday have tested negative for COVID-19.

The government spokesperson on COVID-19 related matters, Mabrook Azeez Tuesday confirmed all three students have tested negative for the virus.

Although Russia has banned foreign arrivals until 1 May, the Russian government has stressed that the number of people testing positive for the virus are relatively less in Russia. 495 cases of COVID-19 have been recorded in Russia thus far.

However, there have been various reports that allege that Russia is hiding its real situation.

The Maldives Foreign Ministry has urged Maldivians travelling to Russia and those residing in Russia to be cautious.
