The Health Protection Agency (HPA) has stated that those traveling to islands to provide essential services and forgoing quarantine can stay in the islands for a maximum period of 5 days.
HPA amended the guidelines on traveling to provide essential services to state that their stay cannot exceed a five-day duration. The change does not apply to those traveling to resorts to offer such services, said HPA. Such parties must adhere to special guidelines on traveling to resorts for essential purposes, the authority added.
Those traveling to islands for work and business purposes are also to follow the guidelines on traveling to provide essential services, said HPA. In this regard, a special permit has to be obtained from the authority. The guidelines also outlines the responsibilities of the organization that seeks the permit, and how the employees should maintain their behaviour in the islands.
Under the new normal procedures developed in response to COVID-19, people travelling to other islands have to be placed in quarantine for 14 days. However, the restriction does not apply to people travelling from other islands to Male’ after the relaxation of lockdown measures.
