Curfew hours shortened with improvement in COVID situation

The curfew hours imposed on capital Male’ has been revised.

Authorities imposed a curfew from 10 pm to 5 am after a spike in the number of COVID-19 cases earlier in August. While the number of daily cases have declined significantly since then, the Health Protection Agency (HPA) on Friday announced the decision to shorten curfew hours from 11pm to 5 am instead of 10pm to 5pm. No persons will be allowed outside during this time, and vehicles will not be allowed to operate during curfew hours.

The Maldives has recorded 11,154 positive cases of COVID-19 and 36 deaths to date. Cases are active across 20 islands and 19 resorts.
