COVID-19: Maldives registers 54th death

Maldives registered an additional COVID-19 death on Thursday night.

According to the Health Protection Agency (HPA), a 84-year old local male admitted at the DH11 facility at Dharumavantha Hospital passed away at 08:20 pm on Thursday night. This is the 54th COVID-19 death in the Maldives, and the sixth death this month.

The number of people testing positive for COVID-19 have been increasing in the Maldives over the past couple of weeks. Experts believe the spike in the number of cases is most likely due to more transmissible variants of the virus.
