PG charges ten people involved in 70kg drug bust

The Prosecutor Generals Office has charged 10 people involved in the 72 kg drug bust from December 2020.

The PG office Monday said it has forwarded charges against ten people involved in the drug bust dated December 8, 2020 in which two individuals named Irufaan Thagiyyu and Mohamed Visaam led a trafficking attempt of 72 kg of drugs via a fishing vessel. The two leaders as well eight others were charged with trafficking dimorphine.

Those charged in addition to Irufaan Thagiyyu and Mohamed Visam are Abdulla Visam, Ahmed Naseer, Mohamed Akram, Mohamed Shareef, Mohamed Furugaan, Ahmed Shinan, Mohamed Wajeeh and Ali Ahmed. According to the PG Office, Ahmed Naseer, Mohamed Akram and Mohamed Shafeeq have also been charged with the use of cannabis.
