Cancer Hospital project's physical work to commence next year

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has stated that the planned Cancer Hospital project for L. Gan will commence next year. He made the statement in a meeting with L. Gan Council members on Saturday.

During the meeting held at the President's official residence, Muleeaage, Councillors noted that mega projects like the Cancer Hospital project and the International Airport Development project planned for Gan Island demonstrate the importance the government gives to the island's development.

Discussing the developmental needs and concerns of the people with the President, Councillors stated that as there are a number of projects budgeted to be carried out on Gan Island next year, they requested to initiate the project work at the earliest convenience. Other areas of discussion included the opinions of the residents and council on the need for housing projects, road development projects, beach protection projects, solving the space limitations in schools, the need for upgrading health services, water, and sanitation needs, and other developmental initiatives.

During the meeting, the President shared the latest updates on some projects to be carried out on the island. In this regard, he stated that physical work on the cancer hospital project and the tertiary hospital project development would commence next year. He also said that additional projects would be carried out on the island under the government's vision and that he would meet with line ministries to enable and find mutual solutions to the Council's quests and concerns.
