COVID-19: Over 650 positive cases in a week

The Health Protection Agency (HPA) said 665 positive cases of COVID-19 were recorded in the Maldives over the past week.

HPA stopped announcing the number of daily cases when President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih lifted the state of Public Health Emergency announced in the Maldives last month. Since then, the agency has been announcing weekly data on positive cases.

The most recent figures show that 665 cases were recorded between March 27 and April 2. While 72 cases were recorded in the Greater Male' Region, 481 cases were from the atolls. The sample positivity rate in the Male' area is four percent, while it is at 18 percent in the atolls.

No deaths were recorded duration.

The Maldives has recorded 177,658 COVID-10 cases and 298 deaths to date.
