Maldives welcomes over 168,000 tourists in April

More than 168,000 tourists visited the Maldives in April this year, as per statistics by the Tourism Ministry.

According to the ministry, a total of 168,647 tourists visited the Maldives in April this year, 2.6 percent more than the 164,357 tourists who visited the Maldives in April last year. The Maldives received an average of 5,622 tourists per day last month, with visitors typically spending an average of seven days in the Maldives.

According to the ministry, a total of 794,109 tourists visited the Maldives as of May 4.

The top 10 countries contributing to tourist arrivals in April are:

China: 87,168 tourists
Russia: 80,160 tourists
UK: 76,823 tourists
Italy: 71,536 tourists
Germany: 61,959 tourists
India: 43,991 tourists
France: 30,063 tourists
United States: 27,796 tourists
Switzerland: 20,078 tourists
Poland: 16,542 tourists

A total of 1,186 tourism facilities are currently operating in the Maldives. These include 176 resorts, 848 guesthouses, 147 safari vessels and 15 hotels. The number of tourist beds in these facilities is 62,412.
