The government has announced that agreements will be signed with the recipients of the 'Hiyaa' flats next month.
Speaking at a press conference held by the President's Office on Tuesday, government Spokesperson Mohamed Mabrook Azeez said agreement signing will commence on July 14. The Housing Development Corporation (HDC) aims to conclude the work within a month, said Mabrook.
Mabrook said all pending work at the flats will be completed before agreement signing. Utility company STELCO is currently installing electrical meters at the flats, he added. Installation of electrical meters will be completed by July 16. The main panel has been installed in 9 out of 16 towers.
Male' City Mayor Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has requested President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih to lower the monthly rent of the housing units to MVR 6,000 per month. Mabrook said discussions are ongoing regarding the request.
