No complaints received regarding vaccine card: HPA

The Health Protection Agency (HPA) has said it has received no complaints regarding the vaccination card issued by the Maldives not being accepted in other countries.

Some social media users have been claiming that the Maldives' vaccination card is not accepted by some foreign countries. A Twitter user said his card was not accepted in UAE as it did not have any official emblem. However, when asked regarding the issue, both the Foreign Ministry and the Health Protection Agency (HPA) said it had not received any such complaints.

HPA has also introduced a digital Vaccine Passport named 'COVID Safe'. The agency says the digital passport would ease travel from one destination to the other. HPA said the digital passportt is the official digital passport that will be used by the Maldives' Health Ministry. However, the World Health Organization (WHO) has not issued any official guidelines on the use of vaccine passports to date.
