Marriott to open 8th resort in the Maldives

World's largest hotel chain, American company Marriott International will be opening an 8th resort in the Maldives.

A statement issued by Marriott International said the new resort will be developed in a reclaimed island in Emboodhoo lagoon. The resort, which will be named JW Marriott Resort and Spa - Emboodhoo Finolhu South Male' Atoll - will be developed under one of the Marriott's luxurious brands, JW.

In a bid to expand the company's business in South Asia, Marriott will also be opening an 80-bed resort in the Maldives in 2025.

The most recent property opened in the Maldives by Marriott International is Ritz-Carlton Maldives Fari Islands. In addition to Fari Island, the chain also runs Le Meridien Maldives Resort and Spa, the Saints Regis Maldives Vommuli Resort, Sheraton Maldives Full Moon Resort, JW Marriott Resort and Spa Maldives, JW Maldives and Westin Maldives Miriandhoo Resort.
