Maldives Meteorological Services has issued white alerts to 12 atolls.
The alerts were issued for atolls between Noonu and Thaa atoll. While white alerts have been issued to these atolls, yellow alerts have been issued from Haa Alifu to Thaa atoll. Both alerts are in place until 1630 hrs on Sunday.
MET Office said heavy rain is expected between 0830 hrs and 1630 hrs from Noonu to Thaa atoll. Winds of 25 to 30 mph, with gusts upto 50 mph is expected between Haa Alif and Thaa atoll. Seas are expected to be rough.
Authorities have warned all, especially sea farers, to take all necessary precautions.
