Murder suspect remanded in custody for 15 days

The foreigner arrested in connection to Mahmood Aboobakuru's murder has been remanded in custody for 15 days.

Mahmood, 57, was found murdered inside a well in a house that belonged to his grandmother in Dhangethi on Friday afternoon. The police had been searching for him since Friday morning after his family reported him as missing after he failed to return home on Thursday night. He is believed to have been murdered on Thursday.

The police arrested the expatriate, who lived in a house nearby as a caretaker of an elderly person, under a court order. The police said the man exhibited suspicious actions, and confirmed that he was remanded for 15 days.

Earlier on Friday, three people were given police protection after the people of Dhangethi handed over two individuals who they suspect to be connected to the murder. The third individual under police protection is a woman linked to the two men.
