Maldives Meteorological Services has issued Yellow Alerts for five atolls.
The alerts were issued for atolls between Kaafu and Alif Dhaal atoll. The alerts will be valid until 4:15 pm. According to MET Office, strong winds of 29 to 30 mph and gusts of 45 mph with rough seas are expected.
White alerts were also issued for eight atolls from Raa atoll to Alif Dhaal atoll. As per the alert, which will be in effect until 4:30 pm, heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected. Strong winds of 9 - 24 mph, with gusts of 40 mph, and rough seas are also expected.
Authorities have warned to practice caution when traveling.
