Ex-pres Yameen in Dhuvaafaru to expand India Out campaign

Former President of the Maldives Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayyoom Friday traveled to Dhuvaafaru island of Raa atoll.

The former president traveled to Dhuvaafaru with a team of senior members from his party, the Progress Party of Maldives (PPM) to expand the 'India Out' campaign led by him. He was welcomed warmly upon his arrival on the island by supporters donning t-shirts that read 'India Out'.

The opposition's India Out campaign seeks to drive out Indian military personnel stationed in the Maldives. The campaign has been gaining momentum in recent weeks, especially in the islands. Yameen recently called on the people of the Maldives to spray the 'India Out' slogan on the walls of their private buildings, and the people of Dhuvaafaru were the first to respond.

During Yameen's presidency, multiple development projects were carried out on the island, due to which President Yameen's popularity on the island is high.
