New submission guidelines for live fish exporters

Maldives Customs Service has said the details of each type of fish must be submitted when lodging Export Declaration and invoice to export Live Fish.

Customs said it had been noticed that exporters present information on fish being exported in one document instead of submitting it separately. This causes difficulties in tallying export statistics, customs said.

The new guideline must be followed effective from March 15. From then on, live fish may be exported after submitting documents stating each type's general information, size, scientific name, and price.

Customs has also set new conditions under which deferred payment of Import Duty is allowed for perishable goods.
