A new treatment facility for infectious diseases has been opened in the capital.
The Health Ministry said the new facility, which aims to provide better services to COVID-19 patients, was opened in Hulhumale'.
The new facility is located in the 'Orange Hiyaa' building previously used by the Housing Development Corporation as a distribution center. The newly opened 'Infections Disease Management Center' has 272 beds, including 44 ICU beds. The Health Ministry said emergency services and in-patient services are available at the facility. Thirty-five beds are allocated for patients who need admission, including five ICU beds.
The new facility is managed and operated by Hulhumale' Hospital. With the center's opening, the number of COVID-19 treatment facilities in Hulhumale' has increased to three.
